It’s a fairly old (thigs aren’t going so fast in that field anyway) but the main idea are still very interesting: “why building Semantic languages (RDF , RDFs, OML, …) is broken?”.

Aral Balkan has published a video, taken during the keynote at MAX Chicago 2007, about the preview of Flash Player 10 (codename: ASTRO).
[...]Adobe showed off the new RTL, multi-column text engine, the new 3D features, and the new bitmap effect scripting language, Hydra.[...]
I’m not so much impressed about the Text feature, as the only feature I wanted seems not to be implemented (in text search Ctrl + F and copy-paste Ctrl + C).
But the Hydra implementation is great (script language used in After Effects) and promise a lot of great possibilities for effects makers.

Finally, I found the time to make a new video tutorial about AS3:
How to send and receive values to/from a database with Flash CS3 and ActionScript 3.0. Using a server sided script (in this example php).
Basically it will do simply what you could do so hardly with AJAX: asynchronous request.
I used Captivate this time and I hope it will be more easy to understand and to learn at your own pace. You can see the new video tutorials on my AS3 page.
As usual you can also found the source (php, fla, as).

Tomorrow, I’ll have my last exam for this year, and then finish for University for some month ;)
During the last 3 month I haven’t published any new video tutorial about Flash CS3, but they are coming soon!
One will be about interacting with a Database, the other will be about interaction between javascript and actionscript.
I now have a student version of Captivate, so I hope to create tutorials faster than simple video recording.
I’ve also created a mailing list you can subscribe to, so you’ll have an email send each time I publish a new tutorial (you find the subscription form on my actionscript tutorial page).
